WHAT IS HALALCHECK?
HalalCheck is a food search engine that is conveniently accessible online as well as through a mobile application. The project was created by voluntary Muslim siblings specifically for individuals seeking detailed information about the hidden animal and alcohol-related auxiliary and ingredients in food.

INCREASED TRANSPARENCY FOR ALL
Following the motto "Transparency creates knowledge, and knowledge strengthens faith," HalalCheck is designed not only for Muslim consumers but also for vegetarians, individuals avoiding alcohol, and people of other faiths. The goal of this project is to provide more transparency and ease for all interested consumers while shopping or in daily life. Simultaneously, companies are also relieved as they can reach all users of this platform with a single entry.

HOW IT WORKS
Simply scan the barcode of a product to instantly receive all information about the animal and alcohol components in a concise format. Alternatively, you can type in the product or discount store name in the search function to quickly check all relevant products at a glance.

Through the built-in traffic light system, you can immediately find out whether the product is entirely vegetarian and alcohol-free (green color), therefore safe to consume, or if you should steer clear (all red products). Products falling in between are displayed with an orange color. The traffic light system was developed to ensure that both Muslims and individuals such as vegetarians, those abstaining from alcohol, or people of different faiths can make versatile use of HalalCheck. Meat products are not included in the database.

The producers of the products are personally contacted by the HalalCheck team either in writing or over the phone. Therefore, all information is based on statements from the manufacturers which are subsequently analyzed and entered into the system by our product analysis team.
